Moving day…

…to a new (temporary, hopefully) life up the hill in what PCCW terms ‘VIP’ territory – essentially the telecoms company charges far more for an Internet connection than in other districts.

To help us calm down after all the Trump-Tsai phone call excitement – a weirder-than-average link to an article describing Taiwan as a ‘pustule’ by a writer who sees independence for the island as leading to ‘a Chiang-like takeover of all of China, a militarized fascist formation aligned with America in the political-economic control of Asia’. China is also the innocent and benign victim of evil US hegemonism a click away on the same site where eternal campaigner John Pilger is pushing a movie on the coming American assault on the poor PRC.

The first writer name-drops Chiang Kai-shek, and Pilger mentions, among others, McGeorge Bundy and Henry Luce – suggesting earnest nostalgia for the deepest darkest Cold War era. The overriding impression from left-paranoia is its total humorlessness. The right-conspiracy theory milieu, like the world of Hillary Clinton-pizza-child-abuse, at least offers surreal entertainment.

If Taiwan and the US finally join forces to overthrow the PRC and turn it into a fascist coalition to impose American will over Asia wouldn’t America be doing 99% of the work?

  2. Glad you noticed Pilger. We did two weeks ago. Pilger is always right. As for your reaction to it, you never did discard those neo-con hardbacks, did you?

Trump will have nothing to do with the assault on China. The U.S. and A was taken over by a military coup twenty years ago. He will just follow orders.

  3. Gromit says:

“As trending thusly before, the US nevertheless appears to be embarking on the Great Leap;…etc”
Seriously weird syntax. Is Norman Pollack PhD Harvard a real person? The ‘article’ reads more like one of those 50c trolls using google translate.

  4. Odd how “Enid Chomsky” Adams always swallows Pilger’s simplistic philosophy wholesale. “The USA is a brutal imperialist superpower” (true so far – Eisenhower was dead right to warn against the military-industrial complex which now runs that country). “China [or Russia] is the enemy of the USA. Therefore China is a benevolent smiling paradise.” Wrong, it’s another brutal imperialist superpower. Living in Hong Kong should show you that, if you’re paying attention.

It’s the illusion that “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” that has got the US into such deep shit in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Pilger just makes the same error from the other end of the political spectrum.

  5. Red Dragon says:

Pilger is a prize twat. Always has been, always will be.

No surprises that Gorgeous Georgie Porgie finds common ground with him.

  6. Sojourner says:

Gorgeous Georgie is past his sale-by date. People like him and the Pilg give the left a bad name.

  7. FOARP says:

Agreed on Pilger: a mendacious liar, and anti-American propagandist.

  8. anon says:

    daily verbal diarrhoea…

  9. pie-chucker says:

‘Mendacious liar’ – overt tautology FOARP
