Quite agree, when I was in UK I visited the dentist every 6 months and always ended up with a filling or 'scale and polish'. At the time it was free so I thought it fine.

When I left UK I stopped going to the dentist because a) it costs money that could otherwise be spent in a pub & b) I don't fucking like dentists.

Five years later I do have to visit the dentist as I broke a tooth - one that previously the UK dentist had filled a few times. I expected to find out after so many years I'd need - well about 10 fillings or so.

Not one. Funny that.

Back in the 1950s a dentist told my dad he needed seven fillings. He just walked out and never went back. When he died 30 years later he still had all his own teeth and not a day of toothache. Dentists just write their own pay cheques.
